Hello, I’m Dr. Modupe Elebute-Odunsi, Project Director of the Marcelle Ruth Foundation, the umbrella body of the Women in Healthcare Network in Nigeria.
At the Foundation, we are driven by a singular mission: to transform women’s health by addressing the devastating impact of breast and cervical cancer in our country.”
As women working in healthcare, we are committed to driving the worldwide campaign to close the care gap, by raising awareness, providing early detection, and ensuring prompt access to treatment for all women in Nigeria
Our membership includes senior women leaders in public and private sector and across healthcare services.
Through our programs, we have provided free cancer screening to over 100,000 women and treated about 6,000 who were found to have abnormal lesions.
We have trained over 200 community healthcare workers who continue to disseminate crucial information about early detection and prompt treatment.”
Our mission is to develop comprehensive women’s health clinics in existing primary healthcare centers across the country by providing the necessary equipment and skilled staff to screen for breast and cervical cancer, to treat and follow-up abnormal lesions, and to collect data for future planning.
As a member of the WHO/ IAEA cancer control committee and NTF-CCE, I work closely with policy leaders to shape national strategies that address comprehensive cancer care for Nigerians.
This allows the Marcelle Ruth foundation to work in close collaboration with the broader vision for sustainable solutions for cancer care across the country.
With this grant, we plan to expand our programs nationwide, leveraging innovative technologies including telemedicine and AI to ensure equitable access to care
Our vision is bold but achievable—with your support.
Together, we can save lives, empower women, and create a healthier future for Nigeria. Join us in this vital mission.
